Lake Tahoe

This weekend Lediya and I flew up to Lake Tahoe to get some snowboarding runs in before the end of season. We stayed at a hotel right across the Heavenly gondola, meaning that we were literally steps away from being ferried up to the ski resort. Just five minutes north of our hotel was the Nevada-California stateline, and of course, casinos.

It snowed on Friday night so we had some fresh powder on Saturday. Because we were so close to the gondola, we had the resort all to ourselves on Saturday morning for a couple of hours. It was nice to get some runs in without the crowd. Also, the stateline bisects Heavenly, so we boarded back and forth between the California side and the Nevada side. We rode mainly blue runs and I didn't go crazy with the speed because I didn't want to leave Lediya behind. I thought that she had one of her best snowboarding days ever. The bonus is the amazing view: Heavenly definitely is one of the prettiest resorts we've been to with the enormous crystal clear lake dominating the view.

We had a great time. On Sunday we drove around the west side of the lake to take in some sight-seeing before our flight back home. We definitely want to go back next season, probably hitting the north shore of the lake next time and boarding at Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows.
